In 2020, e-commerce is an integral part of consumers’ shopping habits.

Therefore, cybersecurity is a major concern for buyers. As a Shopify and Dropizi seller, you need to build trust between you and your customers. They need to feel safe in your online store. This is the main role of trust badges.

In this article

I’ll explain why trust badges are important, the different types of badges, and how you can include badges on your Shopify and Dropizi sites.

Why use trust badges?

Trusted logos influence the purchasing decisions of most customers. And most are used to seeing them on the various sites they visit. Even if they look for logos they know, the majority of them base their decision on the presence of a trusted logo. So it’s important to have one. 61% of shoppers refuse to proceed to purchase because the online store does not offer trustworthy logos.

Therefore, trust badges aim to:

  • Build trust with your customers;
  • Decrease your store’s bounce rate;
  • Stimulate sales.

The different types of trust badges

There are three main types of trust badges you can add to your store:

SSL Certificate Badges

These badges can help highlight that your store is secure via SSL. Shopify and Dropizi provide SSL by default to all its stores. There’s no need to lie about it! Customers also check to see if the store URL is HTTPS, which is SSL-secured.

Payment badges

You can add logos for accepted payments. This allows you to highlight the different payment methods accepted so that visitors are not disappointed when they arrive at the purchase page.

Delivery badges

As with credit cards, it is also interesting to highlight your shipping methods and delivery time. The objective is to be transparent with the visitors so that they have no surprises during the payment stage.

Security Badge

You can also include security logos that signal that your store meets the security requirements of your industry.

Customer Service Badge

The trusted customer service logo can also be used. If your support is responsive and you answer quickly 7 days a week, put it upfront! It gives your visitors confidence and they will feel supported in their purchase.

Product Return Badge

One of the last frequent badges that we often find on merchant sites is the badge concerning product returns. If you are on a sensitive theme such as high tech or clothing, and product returns are more frequent, you need to reassure your visitors. For example, if you are in the clothing industry, add a trust badge with free returns (if you offer it of course).

How to add trust badges on your Shopify store?

To add the trust badge on your site, follow the procedure below:

  4. Copy/paste the link to the right of the file in a Word document for example (it should look like “https://cdn.shopify.com/xxxxx“);
  5. Then copy the following code:
  6. Then replace “your-image-link” with the link copied in your Word document.
  7. Go to the online store -> Themes then select “Edit HTML/CSS“.
  8. Under the layouts folder, click on product-template.liquid
  9. Once your code page is displayed, use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+F or CMD+F on mac to find the {% endform %} area.
  10. Once you have found it, insert your link (obtained in the previous step) on the line just after {% endform %}.

How to add trust badges on Dropizi?

Regarding Dropizi, adding trust badges is much easier. By default, on every page of your site, you have reassurance elements that you can edit. So you can insert the logos and content you want.

But Dropizi doesn’t stop there.

With its WiziBlocks system, the solution also offers a “Reassurance Elements” block that you can for example add wherever you want on the homepage. And there too, you can change the icons, the texts, and even the background image. This is a nice way to highlight your trust badges!

In e-commerce stores, customers are unable to test products and ask many questions before making a purchase.

Customers are therefore increasingly wary of online stores. They are rightly afraid of identity theft or internet scams. Therefore, adding badges and trust logos on your Shopify and Dropizi sites have a positive impact on the trust and sales of online stores!
