In a previous article, I talked to you about how to choose your eCommerce platform and launch your site.
I used to be a big fan of open source solutions because I thought that you are free to do what you want with it. Moreover, it’s more rewarding because turnkey solutions make your work easier (yes I know it’s stupid lol) and above all your site belongs to you.
That’s true, but what I forgot is that with Prestashop for example you need many hours/days/weeks to get the look you want and to make your store look professional. And I don’t know about you but when you want to start, you want to start quickly to test and then gradually improve your site.
I first gave my opinion on Shopify, and today I’m going to talk about its biggest French competitor: Wizishop.
I’m going to give you my opinion on the platform in an objective way and I’m going to explain to you how to start with this e-commerce software in SAAS.
Open your Wizishop shop
When I registered I received an email entitled: “launch your online store in 90 minutes”, I think it’s a great promise, in the email when you click you are redirected to this article that explains how to configure your online store.
In fact, to hide nothing from you I went on the site of wizishop because I often follow their blog that deals with eCommerce and it is a mine of information. I found their home page, I saw that they had changed the design of the site and I found this. All you had to do was enter your email address to test the solution in one click, which I did in 2 seconds.
All I had to do was choose my template from the large selection of free templates that the solution offers.
The site was already professional. It had all the basic features I usually have to buy with an open-source e-commerce solution. I was so amazed that I thought I would write about it. In 1 minute I was up and running, I just had to add the products, create the reassurance pages and the mandatory pages (GTC, legal mentions).
The promise of getting started quickly is really respected.
There are nice reassurance buttons, the phone number displayed on the top right, things that are not found on the basic version of a PrestaShop for example. When you enter the shopping cart, it becomes simpler, in terms of design it is ideal to increase the transformation rate, the biggest e-merchants do it (Amazon for example), to remove any distraction to the user and therefore avoid that he leaves: We feel that Wizishop gives a lot of importance to the reassurance and the ergonomics of its sites.
You have the guest connection, or via Facebook and Paypal, very practical which is native to the site.
It is very practical because the visitor who wants to order and who is “lazy” to enter all his information can register in one click with Facebook or he does not have to register at all. By giving visitors more choices when registering they are more likely to continue ordering.
Wizishop has a large choice of free templates, to be exact 27, while Shopify offers maybe less than 10 and Prestashop only one. It allows you to find your happiness, I think the sites are very well done, an interesting thing next to each template is written the number of times it has been downloaded, which can help you choose your design.
Another thing is that the templates don’t look like “wizishop”
I can explain, the Shopify templates are quite well known and very used so when I come across a site using Shopify I can quickly see that it’s Shopify. There the templates have been worked.
If you don’t find what you are looking for in the list you can call on the developers of Wizishop who will develop a custom site for you between 1500€ and 5000€ before tax, it is always a little cheaper than a classic agency, nothing prevents you from starting with a free template and during a V2, or V3 to call on a custom design.
If you want to register on Wizishop (you have 15 days to test for FREE).
I touched a bit of everything to see all the features offered, most of them are offered in the basic version and some with the pro version.
Here is the list of features available on the platform:
- Loyalty program
- Possibility to have several sites via an interface, this feature is not available in its competitor which means that you need an account for each site is very restrictive with the multi-store not worry
- Import products on Aliexpress in one click with Dropizi
- Automatic reminder: abandoned cart
- Other automatic reminders: birthday, last orders, number of orders…( pro and advanced version)
- SMS marketing
- Customer and site reviews
- Easy connection with many useful services: criteo, iadvize online chat, verified reviews…
- Import and export of products
- translation of the site in several languages: English, Spanish, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Italian
- Search and replace to quickly modify text on all your product sheets
- Easy connection with marketplaces (Amazon, Cdiscount and comparators (gogle shopping, Le guide…)
- Newsletter and email marketing.
Honestly, to have so many features with an open-source solution, you have to buy several modules and above all, these modules have to work without bugging the whole store, here you have the package directly on your site and it is already configured.
EDIT: looking at the platform more closely I found other features :).
This is the big problem of the solution, Wizishop provides a mobile version of the site but does not offer free responsive templates.
When we know the importance of mobile in SEO.
But rest assured you have an interface to optimize your site for mobile. We would have liked that the templates are responsive design.
EDIT: WIZISHOP offers some responsive templates (such as the Havana theme and Responsive one) and is developing others so another positive point for the solution.
On the SEO level, it seems to be correct on the product sheets there is a referencing tab to be able to add or modify the title tag and the meta description tag.
Wizishop provides a sitemap that you can give to Google to help it index you more quickly.
You can add content everywhere on the site easily with the tab “contents”. Another important point you have a redirection tab where you can manage and create redirects easily. In native without the solution is proposed the AMP format dear to Google, so that the pages of your site in mobile version are easier to load.
Easy connection to Aliexpress with Dropizi
Like Biganalytiks with Shopify, Wizishop allows you to connect Dropizi which allows you to add products to your site in one click. You just have to add the chrome extension to be able to add the products.
Dropizi gives a note on the products and you can add the product.
As soon as an order is placed there also in one click you can order the product from Aliexpress. thanks to this you will be able to sell in dropshipping the big catalog of Aliexpress.
The Wizishop blog and Wizishop TV
Wizishop provides a blog: blog eCommerce is a gold mine for e-traders you can find a lot of advice to launch and develop your e-commerce. And especially the wizishop TV is a little bit the same thing all the advice but in the video more playful and you have especially wizishop tutorials to help you to configure your store.
It is regrettable that there is no application store. Apart from the features that Wizishop offers, there is no application store. Shopify does and it allows you to have a lot of functionalities on your shop because it has opened its shop to developers, which makes it immediately more choice.
Contrary to its big competitor Wizishop offers fewer applications, but as I said above the native applications are enough to get started and have a professional shop.
Price of the application
Wizishop proposed some time ago different pricing, I think they have aligned themselves with their competitors. The basic version is enough to get started, I don’t find it expensive, and once your online store is well launched and making sales you can switch to the pro package.
This is the strength of e-commerce solutions in SAAS, you have support! From Monday to Friday you can have someone on the phone if you are having problems, you also have the presence of a chat, and you can also have a business coach to help you develop your sales.
My opinion on the solution
Honestly, before I logged on to the site I didn’t think that Wizishop offered so many features. The site is easily modifiable whether it is the HTML code or the CSS and even without going through it you can modify the place and the style of each element of the site.
I highly recommend Wizishop if you don’t have a lot of HTML/CSS skills and you want to get started quickly.
You have all the basic functionalities to get started, on top of that you have support to help you, a community of more than 30 000 members, and tutorials if you get stuck somewhere.
The SAAS software Wizishop is so easy to use, I don’t even think you’ll get stuck at some point.
In short, you can register on this platform with your eyes closed, it’s not for nothing that companies like the Nice soccer team, and one of the biggest swimsuit websites: monpetitbikini use the solution. It’s a good alternative to Shopify which is totally in English.
